Build Sheet Bingo Illustrations

This photo of Brian's Gold Edition was taken at the 2001 Trans Am Nationals
Brian's car is a great illustration of:
  • Y88 Gold Special Edition - Similar to a "Bandit Trans Am" with the colors reversed. These cars featured gold Fisher T-tops, Camel Tan interior, a Camel Tan steering wheel with gold spokes, gold emblems all over, gold dash, a larger 5-color hood bird and dark brown pinstriping.
  • T93 Black taillights - These contrasting taillights were painted black in 1978. This was a styling transition period to the smoked taillight covers on all 1979 and up Trans Ams. I believe the Gold Special Editions all had this option.
  • B89 Black rear window reveal molding - This was powder coated black. In 1976-78, it was used on Special Editions and Limited Editions only. Beginning in 1979 it was used on all Trans Ams and some Formulas.
  • YJ8 or N90 Snowflake wheels - Snowflake wheels were available on any Pontiac, and they came in at least 6 different castings. These two cars illustrate the 8 inch wide WS6 snowflake casting with two styles of machining. On 1978 gold 8 inch wide wheels only, very little of the wheel was machined, as seen here on Brian's gold car. On all other snowflakes, the spokes were all machined after painting to expose the shiny aluminum. This is shown on the maroon car.
  • WS6 Performance package - Both cars in this photo have the 8 inch wide aluminum wheels that were used with WS6. WS6 came out in 1978. WS6 also included improved bushings, a larger rear swaybar, and a high-effort steering box.
  • D80 Rear spoiler - Now I know you don't need to see a picture of the spoiler, but I admit I see Camaro spoilers on Trans Ams all the time. This is the 1970-78 version.
  • CC1 T-tops - Pontiac used two kinds, the Hurst, which was put in with a saw, and these, which were built by Fisher on the assembly line. The Fisher T-top opening is about flush with the B-pillar, and you can sort of see that here.
  • B97 Wheel flares - The ground effects shown here were used on Trans Am only and were not optional. You can't see much of them from this angle.
  • Brian's car also has C49 Rear Defrosterbut you can't see it in this photo. Not enough pixels.
