1968 Mustang GT Fastback

This 1968 Mustang GT Fastback IS my very first car... meaning I still own it!  This Mustang was purchased from the original owner in the fall of 1978, when I was 15 years old.  This Mustang still has the original Sunlit Gold metallic paint, black standard interior, and equipped with the original, numbers-matching J-Code 302-4bbl engine, C-4 automatic transmission, and a 3.25:1 open 9" rear axle.  The original owner special ordered this Mustang with tinted glass, air conditioning, exterior decor group, fold down rear seat, electric clock, and front disc brakes.  The only request the original owner had before turning over the keys to a 15 year-old teen was that I keep the Mustang original... and I've honored that request.  This Mustang still has the original spare tire still in the trunk that has never been used, and the original headlights with "FOMOCO" molded into the glass (that have been removed and put up for safe keeping).  This Mustang was entered in Mustang Club of America (MCA) shows from 1979-1997.  Hopefully, we'll be showing it again in the future, but family, church, school functions with our kids, junking and restoring Trans Ams (www.firebirdtransamparts.com), and Scouting (www.troop226tccs.com) keep us pretty busy!!

There are no project pictures for this Mustang since it is unrestored.  The only major repairs have been to replace the front suspension.  Other than that, it has only had oil changes, brake jobs, belts, hoses, tune-ups, and routine repairs (water pump, alternator, etc.).

Here's a picture of my '68 Mustang that was taken in 1979. Our First MCA Eastern National Show in 1979 in Chattanooga, TN.

I do have the original paperwork when this Mustang was purchased brand new... along with the owner's manual, dealer brochure, September 1967 Ford Times presenting the 1968 Fords, and various 1968 ads. Our 1968 Mustang was featured in the May 1995 issue of the Mustang Times, one of the Reader's Rides in the March 1996 issue of Hot Rod, and in local newspaper articles.

We also entered our 1968 Mustang in numerous local cars shows from 1979-present.  It is always fun to get out and meet people who enjoy cars.  Driving our Mustang to our high school reunion was definitely nostalgic!!
